Server move checklist
Ten items to close before the server goes into the rack.

Moving a server from an office to a data center takes one day if you prepare. This is the list we send clients before installation.
- Chassis. 19-inch rack-mount only, 1U to 4U, with rails or brackets. Tower cases do not go into the rack.
- Power. One or two power supplies, their rated draw, C13/C14 cables.
- Network. A 100 Mbps port is in the plan; decide in advance whether you need 1 Gbps and how many IPv4 addresses.
- Remote management. IPMI/iDRAC/iLO configured and tested before the move.
- Backup. Full, restore-tested, stored off the server.
- Delivery. Arranged by the client; we receive, mount and connect.
- Documents. Agreement, service order, equipment intake form with serial numbers.
- Contacts. Who on your side makes decisions at three in the morning.
- Monitoring. What exactly we should check and where to report.
- Rollback plan. What to do if the service does not come up after the move.
After installation we send a photo of the mounted server and confirm network reachability.
